ADOPTION INFORMATION To adopt one of our Secondhand Mutts we require a completed adoption application to begin the adoption process. Please make a request to rescue@secondhandmutts.org and we will email it to you. Upon completion fax it back to us at 216-373-4902, send it back via email or bring it with you to the meet and greet appointment. The adoption application will allow us to review your home environment, dog experience and check your personal and veterinary references. If you have never owned a dog before that is not a problem so don't be discouraged. You can also schedule an appointment to meet one of our dogs and fill out the adoption application on site. That way you'll know if the dog you meet is the right one to apply for. Please be familiar with our adoption process which is outlined below.

FOSTER CAREGIVER INFORMATION

We offer a program for volunteers to foster our dogs and give them a much needed break from 24/7 daycare life. If you have an open heart and are committed to helping homeless animals we'd love to speak with you. Sometimes our Secondhand Mutts just need a weekend away and sometimes you end up falling in love and adopting them. If you would like to foster one of our dogs our program will pay for all medical expenses while in your care. You will provide unconditional love, attention and food. We do require that you fill out a foster parent application (similar to the adoption application) and sign a care-giver agreement prior to taking a dog home with you.

FUNDING & ADOPTION FEES

Like most recues we operate on a shoestring budget and the costs to shelter, vaccinate, spay/neuter and feed our dogs exceeds the final adoption fee. We count on public and private donations with big thanks or we couldn't continue our mission.
