FOSTER HOME REPORT:

Bandit is doing great!  What a goof ball. He seems more or less housebroken, though not perfect. He’s extremely cuddly to human, very playful with dogs. He LOVES food, so he gets a bit jumpy if I don’t give treats right away, but he stops jumping if I say no. I’m not sure if he knows ‘Good’ or ‘No’, but I’m sure he can tell from my tone. He’s very observing of your mood or command, so he stops whatever he’s doing when I say No.  When he follows me around the house, he makes a very firm eye contact. This makes me laugh every time because his goofy face! Such a sweetie.

He doesn’t go on furniture. Even when he’s in the middle of a chase with Petey and petey jumps up on the couch, Bandit stops at the foot of the couch. Same for the bed.

BanditSHM_yardHe walks great on leash. He does pull a bit when he finds something interesting, but generally he walks by you. Even the pulling is very soft and easy to control. He might be tall and already weighs 45lb, but he sure isn’t a strong dog, and he feels much lighter. (Petey’s only 57lb, but feels three times heavier.

BanditSHM_foster2He loves toys. He does chew on them here and there, and he chases around when I throw it, but most of the time he picks one up and walks to somewhere else, puts it down, and lie next to it. It’s RIDICULOUS. He doesn’t seem to have a chewing issue. He chew on toys, but not up to the point he destroys it. He’s been picking on my shag rug. I have to say, that rug is practically asking for it. it’s one of those with little finger size shags knotted into a big fabric, so you can pull them off.  I bet it’s a lot of fun pulling them off.  Petey used to do that until I corrected him.  He gets excited when he see other dogs or squirrels, but he doesn’t run to them. He stares and you can feel his excitement, but not much more. He’s really easy on walks.

He makes a great playmate for Petey (my dog). They switch roles between domination and submission, they go very rough on each other, but neither even once yelped/squealed/barked during the play. It’s definitely Bandit that initiates the play. He definitely has a lot of those puppy energy in him. But when he’s not wrestling with Petey, he’s very quiet and calm, kind of remind me of Petey’s demeanor when he was a puppy.  So, he’s playful, but still very easy to be with and easy to control. Overall, I sense absolutely no dominance from him. Between petey and bandit, he definitely took the follower position from the beginning.

He’s pretty quick with learning commands, I think. I taught him sit and paw.  Now he sits everytime I have a treat in my hand. I should try without a treat to see if he really knows the word.  Paw is not perfect, but he picked it up only after three attempts. It was shocking!  His body’s very soft and flexible, I think he can be one of those upright dancing dog if someone has an energy to train him. 🙂

He’s fine with the crate. The first night, he cried and tried to get out. Last night and this morning, I threw in some treats and he just walked in and lie down as if he was saying “eh, this is fine too, I’ll just chill here, go ahead, lock the door”
