Bella & Max

ADOPTED! June 1, 2018
Bella_MaxSHM_600

Max and Bella were adopted in October 2015 and have recently been returned due to a move and the owner being unable to keep them. We realize this is yet one more change of life for this pair and they are now 10 years old but we are hopeful we can find them a final and forever landing spot in a loving home. Bella is a velcro dog who loves to be on a lap and have company. Max is more outgoing but always checking in to make sure Bella is around. They are completely housetrained and wonderful dogs. They have received their health exams, updated vaccines and microchips. When Max was young he did have cherry eye surgery in both eyes but has no issues now years later. They have never eaten table food and are not beggers. They get along great with other dogs and kids of all ages. They both love carrots for snacks.

ORIGINAL ADOPTION INFO:
Bella and Max are a bonded pair of Pekipoo (Pekingese/Poodle mixes). They have been together their entire lives. They are 8 years old. Their owners were devastated with financial hardship and foreclosed on their home and moved in with family where there were pet restrictions. Having no other options but to network them they found Secondhand Mutts. Luckily we had an open foster home for the pair and agreed to put them on a wait list while the family continued to network them to find them a home. Time was running out and there were no leads and now Bella and Max are looking for a new home. To say this was not easy on the family (or our foster parent who picked the dogs up) is an understatement. No good dog owner is ever prepared for something like this. The dogs are now in good hands and our goal is to find them a home together.

If you are looking for loving pets to keep you company and want to give a pair of little dogs a home please consider Bella and Max.

2015 FOSTER HOME REPORT:

Bella is a sweet girl that is a little shy.  She warms up quickly and is a snuggle bug who loves to give kisses.  She is good with other dogs and is a joy to have around.  She is housebroken but uses potty pads when she has to be left alone for too long.  She is very attached to her brother Max and looks to him when she feels insecure.  She is a very happy dog.

Max is more confident and sure of himself.  He protects his sister Bella and will comfort her is she is unsure.  He is very observant and likes to watch whatever is going on around him.  He is more playful than his sister and likes his toys.  He is always wagging his tail and is the first to greet you when you walk in the door.  He is housebroken and barks to be let out.

They are both wonderful and sweet dogs who love to be petted and cuddled.

2018 FOSTER HOME REPORT:

Pretty much the same as the 2015 report. Bella seems to be a bit deaf. If she is looking at you, she responds, but if she’s in another room or facing in another direction, she doesn’t. Or maybe it’s selective hearing!
Both can only handle a few stairs. If an adopter has a stairway, they will probably have to be carried up. Mine are hardwood so maybe carpeted steps would work better for them.

If you are interested in adopting any one of our dogs please fill out our online adoption application. Applications are responded to with an auto-response message indicating your application has been received. Please check your Spam folder as our mail sometimes does not make it into inboxes due to spam filters. Please add rescue@secondhandmutts.org to your approved senders list. We are a volunteer run operation and applications can take anywhere from 3-7 days to process. Please notify your references when you list them on our application and give your listed veterinarian authorization to release your current or previous animals records to our volunteers. If you have never owned a pet before please research the breed you are interested in adopting to understand the needs of the breed and list the name of the veterinarian you plan to use if you do adopt.
