Bernie

BernieSHM_MARTHABernie is about 2 years old. He was found wandering through downtown Cleveland this winter and a Good Samaritan picked him up. They took him to the city kennel to hopefully be re-claimed but he wasn’t. The family that met him contact us and were willing to foster him until we could find him a home so now he’s a Secondhand Mutt. He has been with them for about 4 weeks. Bernie had is first day of daycare and did very well, he is outgoing, energetic and playful. In addition to being a stunning dog visually he’s also very attentive and learns commands quickly. He is neutered, up to date on shots and microchipped.

FORMER FOSTER HOME REPORT:
He is house-trained and crate trained. He is very good with other dogs and was very gentle when he met a five year old boy. He has only been destructive when left alone due to his age so a crate is a must. He loves to chew bones and rope toys. He is energetic and would do best with other dogs to play with. He loves to cuddle and wants to be part of the family. He knows ‘sit’ and ‘down’ and is working on ‘stay’.

We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We are closed on Sundays. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.
