Clark

ADOPTED! October 15, 2014

ClarkSHM_toy

Clark is under a year old. He is a suspected Beagle/Jack/Dachshund mix. He was brought in from the Richland County Animal Shelter where he was picked up as a stray, taken in by a Good Sam, then brought to the shelter to find his owners. Nobody claimed Clark so he was released to our rescue. Clark moved into a weekend foster home after arriving but is now looking for a new foster home but preferably a forever home. Clark does have demodex mange on his front two paws and we are medically treating him. It could take about 2 months for his paws to completely heal. This is a non-contagious mange and Clark is able to live with and be around other animals.

ClarkSHM_bedWeekend Foster Home Report

Clark is all puppy. He is hilarious to watch run and play. He has a strange gate when walking, but runs just fine. I have said he is “faking it” (ie, his paws hurting) when he walks, to get sympathy from me. He is good at playing and needs redirection so he doesn’t go for cords, furniture, blankets, shoes. I have been successful by giving him free reign to the toy bucket. He likes to chew on a kong, a bone, and chase a tennis ball around on his own.

He is not house trained and whomever adopts him will need to work on this but it should be easy as he is quick to learn. He was excited to see me when I got him out of his crate and he tinkled all over himself and the ground. But, he did hold his potty for the two hours he was in the crate.

He is playing well with the other two dogs at home and got schooled by the cat. He sniffed at Max, Max got mad and swatted at Clark, and Clark looked at me and wagged his tail. Clark then trotted back over to join the rest of us.

Foster Home Report

Clark has come a long way in just a few short days.  He sleeps through the night. Clark likes to snuggle in the evening.  He likes to be touching people when napping. He is becoming familiar where he must go outside.  Clark knows he gets a treat for going potty outside.  He is a funny little guy, he lifts his leg without going and will look at people for a treat.  Clever!  Clark is familiar with his surroundings.  He is great with dogs and people on walks.  Clark follows other dogs well.

We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.

Adoption Fee $200
