Fenway is a 2 year old Wheaton Terrier. He was surrendered to the shelter for being cat aggressive (he reportedly killed a cat). He is a confident, playful dog and likes other dogs. He is getting along well with big and little dogs. He is currently in a foster home with two other dogs and one adult and doing well. As we get to know Fenway more we will update his profile. He was recently groomed at The Mutt Hutt Grooming Salon and his shaggy coat is all cleaned up thanks to Jaimie.
Fenway is up to date on shots, microchipped and neutered.
FOSTER HOME REPORT
Fenway has a cute personality and is very playful. He loves running around the yard and the house with my two mutts. He sometimes gets carried away and can be a little overwhelming for them, maybe because he’s bigger than they are. When he’s the only dog, he’s much more mellow and laid back. Fenway is crate trained and he’s good in the car. He doesn’t bark much. He’s house trained and has only had two accidents, which were my fault because I wasn’t paying attention to his signals to go out. He is very food/treat motivated so bribery works!
He does need leash training and more work on basic commands. He can be stubborn when he doesn’t want to do something and he will growl if he gets startled. The biggest negative is food possessiveness and theft. He will go after the other dogs’ food and treats if they’re not done eating, which causes spats. He will jump up to see what’s available on kitchen counters/tables. We are working on all of this but it’s a process that will need continued reinforcement.
Fenway’s positives far outweigh the negatives. He would do great in a home where he will get a lot of attention, play time, and exercise. Older kids would be recommended since he can be a bit feisty. He’d be a wonderful and fun companion.
