Francine Fox was taken in from the Cleveland Kennel. She and a “sibling” were picked up as strays and the other dog was taken by the Cuyahoga County Kennel to find a future owner. We were at the city evaluating another dog when we stumbled up this scared youngster and decided we needed to meet her. She certainly had the qualities of a dog that needed us so we were happy to take her in. She was quite frightened by all the noise and activity at the kennel and crouched down as low as she could go for her freedom walk out of the facility. She remained just as cautious on her ride back to our facility barely moving from the front seat well. Once we got her into our place we moved her up to a quarantine area to relax and decompress. Over the following day she was introduced to other Secondhand Mutts and that is when she started to shine. Typical for a shy/timid personality the help of another dog or dogs often makes dogs like this feel more secure.
Francine was quite interested in playing and getting to know the pack better so she was moved to the socialization floor and really started to come out of her shell. She is a great dog and will make whomever adopts her very lucky. She moved into a foster home and she is currently going into a heat cycle so she will be in foster unless she is placed and then spayed when her cycle ends. Francine is now crate trained and house trained.
FOSTER HOME REPORT:
UPDATE: Francine is no longer a super shy pup and she’s come out of her shell since living in a foster home. She adores children big and small and is very patient with every person she meet, including the little one’s. Francine is still working on being comfortable on city-style walks with cars rushing by and sudden noises so this will be something to work with her on with confidence building. She absolutely LOVES other dogs and would benefit from having a dog in the home that she gets place in.
