ADOPTED! September 8, 2015
Gizmo is a 14 week old Chihuahua/Terrier mix that looks like much smaller version of a Labrador/Doberman or German Shorthaired Pointer mix! Gizmo was surrendered to a local vet clinic “with no questions asked”. Sometimes its the right thing to help someone out who can’t care for a dog so the dog has a better life. Gizmo is neutered and up to date on shots. Gizmo is looking for a forever home while he’s in foster care for a bit. Given Gizmo’s age and size and activity level and getting to know him in a foster home environment we feel he is best suited in a home with kids 12+ in age. He is in no way aggressive toward humans but we are cautious with his puppy teeth and age learning boundaries to place him in a home with young children.
FOSTER HOME REPORT
He’s a great pup – a bit hyper but normal for a puppy his age. He needs a lot of attention – as do many pups. But he does great in his crate. Whined a bit last night but then slept just fine. I got up every few hours to let him out. He is fearless little guy. He plays really well with my 3 big dogs and loves to be outside. He’s just fine in his crate and hardly whines now.. Even going in on his own! He’s pretty much housebroken. He follows the big dogs outside and has learned that’s where to potty. He’s very loving, cuddly and just cute as a button. He does love to chew… He’s still nipping but we’re really working on him to break that and it’s vastly improved in a week. As long as he has a bone, he’s good to go.
We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We are closed on Sundays. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.
