Grace

ADOPTED! May 13, 2015GraceSHM_600

GraceSHMGrace is a 3-4 year old Doberman Pinscher. She is red and rust in color with cropped (but flopped) ears and a docked tail. Grace has a wonderful personality and loads of love to give to the lucky family who adopts her. She was left behind in an apartment building by her family. Neighbors took care of her, feeding her and one neighbor even took her in for a short while then realized they could not care for her and asked another animal lover and advocate they knew to help. She temporarily moved in with that person and his six other dogs and cats but knew that it wasn’t fair to keep her. She went back to the apartment building until a safe, secure rescue could take her in and the neighbors continued to feed her and make sure she was okay in the place she once called home. We got word of her and knew we could help so one of our longtime volunteers picked her up and took her in for the night. She got along great with their three large breed dogs and then was delivered to our Directors home to be fostered until a home is found.

Grace is estimated to be two years old. She has typical Doberman velcro tendencies and wants to be by a human. She is very playful and in a short time has proven to to get along with the dogs she’s met both big and small. She has met cats and pigs and has no prey drive. She is a champion at eating and with a better quality dog food her dull coat will be shiny in a month or two. Grace does have a spay scar and will be getting a health exam. She is up to date on shots. Grace appears to be house trained.

Although she has not been kid-tested given her calm temperament and laid back personality we are hopeful to find a family that can kid-test her and we can sign off on her being adopted by a family with kids should one apply.

We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.
