Logan

ADOPTED! DECEMBER 2, 2014LoganSHM_bedLoganSHM_body

Logan is a year old Border Collie mix. He was found in Southern West Virginia and taken in by Good Samaratans until he could get a ride to Cleveland to find a home. Logan has beautiful blue eyes and his breed is reminiscent of a Great Dane without the size. Logan is currently in a foster home and learning basic manners and obedience. He is crate trained, good on a leash and a great snuggler. As you can see from the pictures he is getting along great with his foster dog family (including former Secondhand Mutt Sam), he enjoys having a fenced in yard and he loves to work. Logan would be ideal for someone who is looking for a working dog breed and has the time to devote to continuing his obedience and giving him plenty of exercise. He would not be ideal with a couch potato family as the breed demands they exert themselves and work.

Logan does have car ride anxiety and will stare out the window and drool until the car stops. Until he is over this hump his adopter should have a blanket or towel in the back seat. This is just another fun fact about Logan. As you can see you can also dress him up!

LoganSHM_hatFoster Home Report
Logan is 50ish lbs of pure puppy love! he gives and wants lots of hugs and snuggles, is friendly with other dogs, has socialized with children, including a toddler, with no issue. Logan’s first love is definitely people, though. he’s outgoing, but also gentle upon first meeting a new person. but don’t let that first introduction fool you! he’s still a puppy doing what baby boys do! Things Logan is currently working on and getting a handle on: Sit, Wait, Down, and Come. Things he still struggles with: not jumping, getting overly excited during play time, and mouthing. Because of these things I would still exercise caution with children under 6 as sometimes his puppy brain gets just so dang excited!

And be forewarned, this baby boy has a major shoe fetish!

The most desirable home I see Logan in is one where he can have consistent training, mental and physical exercise, and lots and lots of snuggles. Because he’s a people person I think he’d do well in a home either with or without other dogs. he adapts well to the environment around him. A fenced yard would be ideal, but not mandatory as long as he’s able to get walks in and have room to play and learn how to use his floppy puppy body!

He is eager to please, sensitive, and loving. with some effort and good firm training he will make the perfect mate. whoever adopts Logan is in for their heart to be furever changed.

We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.
