Cecelia is breaking our hearts! Well, actually just this picture is. She is a small Lab mix puppy around 25 pounds on her arrival. She was at the Boone County West Virginia shelter and transferred north to us with her sister Sally. The pair were surrendered by their owner (no further information given) and scared at the kennel so they were moved into a foster home with shelter volunteers. Since arriving at our facility Cecelia has really opened up and enjoyed playing with the pack. Her “sibling” Sally is still too scared and timid and will need more time to decompress and trust.

Foster Reports from “weekend getaways”:

July 4: Sally and Cecelia rode well in the car, they seemed to enjoy it very much and were relaxed. They played in the fenced back yard, went potty on the grass twice. Neither one of them had any accidents in the house. They seem very comfortable in a house and will train very easy it seems. Cecelia put her nose in the fridge a couple of times, and sniffed around the kitchen trash can and put her paws on the table but that is what any puppy would do. They were great with the kids and Sally was wonderful and very smart. She loves to be held and pet. Who ever adopts these dogs will have wonderful pets. Thank you for allowing me and my family to have them for a few hours.

August 23: Cecelia is doing really great. We played in the yard yesterday with a tennis ball and rubber chicken. Then played in the house with soft squeaky toys. She was allowed on the couch to sleep with a blanket and slept hard. She slept all night at the foot of my bed. This morning I spent some time getting her acquainted with her crate, sitting next to her and petting her while she was in the crate to make her comfortable with it. She napped on my bed while I took a shower. I was gone for about 2 hours just now and I took a chance giving her a blanket in the crate along with a Nylabone smeared with peanut butter. She did not chew the blanket and she was quiet as I left and I quiet as I came home (i.e. no crate shrieking as some of the recent crated fosters have enjoyed doing). So far, so good. She is definitely high energy and somewhat nervous but she’s dosing awesome….
