Nico and Lady arrived to us from an overpopulated Tuscarwaus County Dog Shelter. Their owners surrendered the pair and a senior Doberman Pinscher female to the shelter saying they could no longer care for the dogs. They stayed at the shelter for a few days and were networked to us and one of our volunteers made the drive (through a snow storm) to get them and bring them back to us. We have been told Lady is Nico’s mother and the resemblance is clear. The shelter manager reported the owner had let them know the Sire was a Australian Shepherd. It is very clear that Lady has recently had a litter so we suspect given her age this could have been a second liter since giving birth to Nico who is 6 months younger. However, in rescue you never really know a dogs tale.
Nico is very outgoing and happy go lucky. He’s got typical puppy energy and loves to play, play, play. He is in the stage of life where learning is very important and his foster parents are providing him with structure, obedience and command work to earn his keep. Nico is up to date on shots and she will be spayed just after the new year. We would love to find her and Nico a home together but we are confident both dogs could easily be separated and find two homes if that option presented itself.
