ADOPTED! April 22, 2015
Opie is a 2-3 year old Terrier/Lab/Hound mix. She weighs 50# and has had two owners prior to being admitted into our program. The owner who surrendered her had a life change and was unable to give Opie the life she deserved. Opie was outstanding with her behavior testĀ duringĀ our evaluation assessment and a dog we were happy to find a home for. Opie is up to date on shots, spayed, house trained and knows her basic commands. She could use some polishing on the command work with her new family but knows come, heel, sit, stay, down and off. Gooood Opie! She has lived with two cats and been around plenty of other dogs big and small. She does like to chase squirrels so a fenced yard is a plus but not a deal breaker.
Foster Home Report:
Opie is a totally fun ball of energy and delight. She is adept at both cuddling and snuggling, but she also enjoys bounding around the yard with her foster sisters and brothers, exploring the snow and playing fetch with snowballs. Opie knows basic commands and is housebroken. Opie is also an excellent dinner-eater and toy-player — her favorites in particular include Milk-Bone Mini’s and antler chews. She is a beautiful brindle hound-mix — she doesn’t howl a lot, but when she does, it’s good — and would make a great family pet who doubles as a guard dog with a strong bark.
We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We are closed on Sundays. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.
