Ozzie

OzzieSHMADOPTED! April 28, 2014

Ozzie, a Pug/Terrier mix, is a former Secondhand Mutt that was adopted a few years ago (2010) and then again in May 2013 and is back again to find a new home.  Both times he’s been surrendered by his former adopters. The first family returned him after a move, the family no longer had time or a fenced in yard to keep him contained. The second family split up and the wife is no longer able to care for her three children and Ozzie so she brought him back to us to find him a home.

Ozzie is estimated to be around 6 years old, he is healthy, active, loves kids and will make someone very happy. We can’t stress how good is is with children, he is extremely patient or passive with them.  Ozzie loves other dogs and we do not have a history on his experience with cats. According to both of his former owners Ozzie will require a fenced in yard, he loves to run and may try to escape when given the chance (i.e. gate open). He is not an escape artist looking for a way out but when presented with one he enjoys freedom. Ozzie was crate trained by his first adoptive family and enjoys his crate, he is not a chewer but he loves stuffed animals. He is used to sleeping with children at night. He is reportedly a good watch dog, he will bark but not excessively or be a nuisance, just alert you if you need to be. He is cautious with strangers. He has put on quite a bit of weight since we last saw him but playing here with our pack of dogs will take care of that issue.

We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We are closed on Sundays. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.
