Reece_faceReese and Rugar were surrendered together by their owner due to a change of life. She was unable to keep the dogs and wanted them to have a better opportunity and find a home through a reputable rescue. They do not need to be placed together.

Reese is up to date on shots, microchipped and neutered. Reese’s known history dates back to 2015. He was brought to Ohio from a Missouri high-kill shelter and taken in by REAL Rott Rescue. Reeses’s owner did notify the rescue she needed to surrender him and we have a working relationship with this local rescue and we all agreed it would be best to have the dogs stay together with us while we find them homes. Reese was placed with his former owner in 2015. He knows sit, shake and stay. He gets along great with other dogs and lived in a home with a 5 and 7 year old. Reese loves peanut butter! He does not need a crate and he is great with people and strangers. Reese has been trained on invisible fence in the past.

His paperwork does indicate that he “nipped a kid”. We do not know the circumstances of the nipping incident or the environment he was living in to properly assess if he would be okay in a home with little children. At this time we would recommend kids 8+.

UPDATE: Reese has met some children via his foster mom and has shown no indication of having issues with kids.

FOSTER HOME REPORT

Reese is an absolutely wonderful dog. He’s usually calm, quiet, and laid back. He knows basic commands and walks pretty well on a leash. He’s good in the car and enjoys going for rides. He’s friendly and sweet, gets along with other dogs well, and does not overreact to other animals (likes cats and chickens!). He likes to chill out with his human and canine companions. Reese is house trained — zero accidents. He is not destructive at all and has “good manners”. He’s a foodie so he’s easily treat motivated.
I have seen him interact with little kids and he was great. He sat down and let them pet him and he responded with a few gentle licks.
Something to be aware of is that he tends to be very fearful of loud noises and of unfamiliar situations. He will pull back and even start shaking a bit. Once he figures out what’s going on, he’s fine.
You really can’t go wrong with this dog.
