I’ve been waiting for a home since September 2012. Someone, please adopt me!

What a cutie and volunteer favorite at the Richland County Animal Shelter. He was picked up as a stray in late July 2012, nobody came to claim him and he’s been waiting for a rescue or adoptive family ever since. We had our good friends at the shelter test him out for our program and he passed with flying colors. He is neutered, up to date on shots and ready to find a home to relax in. He is approximately 4-5 years old. Temphe is not good with cats and will not be placed in a home with cats. He is a terrier and they are known to hunt critters. Temphe is happy go lucky and will make a great companion for anyone willing to give him a try.

Tempeh is 35 pounds – the picture doesn’t do his size justice. He loves other dogs and is a great snuggler. Tempeh is up to date on shots and neutered….he is just in need of a home.

IN-HOME FOSTER CARE REPORT:
Tempeh has been GREAT! He is the definition of “mans best friend.” He is an energetic dog, when we go to the dog park he loves to just sprint around and around. Since he does love to run, a fenced yard may be best for him. On the other hand he can just snuggle with you all day. I do let both of the dogs sleep with me and Tempeh will get under the covers on those very cold nights and be a personal heater of sorts. He does protect the home, barking at people walking by, or when the doorbell rings, not excessively but just enough to warn them this place is guarded. I have not had any aggression problems towards people or other dogs. He does seem to get slightly antsy with small children screaming and running so older children may be best for him. He and Gracie (my black lab mix) play together at least 5 times a day! He seems to be only interested in bones and a rope tug of war toy. I leave him free to roam the home with Gracie when we leave and have not had anything too destructive happen! He knows sit, is house trained, and I have him sit and wait for my OK for him to start meals, He would be a great addition to anyone looking for a companion!

We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or emailrescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We are closed on Sundays. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.

Dog Adoption Fee: $150
Microchipping is available for $20 and includes owner registration
