Weasel is a three year old Doberman Pinscher. He was a family dog and surrendered to a local shelter because the family could no longer afford to keep him. Weasel was clearly well taken care of, never neglected and loved by his family. Sometimes there are hardships in life and the dogs are the one’s that suffer but really as we have come to know and love Weasel we know his former family must have had a very hard time giving him up. Weasel is a perfect gentleman in the house. He loves kids and is an excellent companion for a family with small children (which isn’t always the case with this breed). Weasel does have a strong prey drive toward cats and small critters (but not dogs: he has been tested with a Chihuahua and no issues) therefore a fenced yard is recommended (he will hunt squirrels). He has met a few dogs and will be meeting more after Dec. 12 when he is fully recovered from his neuter surgery on Dec. 6th.
Weasel is up to date on shots, house trained, crate trained (but doesn’t need it), not destructive and knows basic commands. He will need a strong handler on walks due to his critter drive. Every new dog owner could benefit from a few professional dog training lessons and Weasel would be a great dog for leash walk lessons.
He will be moving into a foster home and we will update his profile with more information soon.
FOSTER CARE REPORT
Coming soon!
We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We are closed on Sundays. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.
