ADOPTED! February 13, 2016

Meet the Wizard of Wags, or “Wiz” as we’d like to call him. We were contacted by a local veterinary hospital shortly after Wiz arrived at their clinic for a “convenience euthanasia”. His owners were “tired of his hair” and didn’t want him anymore. The Vet could not make sense of it and asked for a moment to try and find him a safe place so they could surrender him. We accepted her plea for help, rounded up a foster home in a pinch, and one of our volunteers transported him to us the next day. Despite being 12 years old Wiz is full of life and happy to be alive and well. He is healthy although a lump or two from old age, house trained, doesn’t climb on the furniture and ready for a senior retirement home to sleep in. If you are looking for a happy go lucky dog to help live out his life consider The Wiz.

Wiz is now in a foster home and we will have an update and additional pictures to post soon.

We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We are closed on Sundays. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.

Adoption Fee $200

If you are looking to adopt a senior Beagle there is no shortage of them in our area. Please take a look at these dogs that are in other rescues and contact them for information. Hopefully The Wiz will inspire all of these wonderful dogs to find great homes:
