Bunny

BunnySHM

ADOPTED! October 23, 2013

Bunny is a senior (9+) Shepherd mix. She was picked up as a stray in Richland County and taken to the local shelter to be reclaimed, adopted or transferred to rescue. We work with high-kill shelters and Richland County Animal Shelter was over capacity and the dogs in their care were at risk of being euthanized so we agreed to take three to give them some relief.

20130915-011549.jpgBunny is a senior dog who would like a quiet home to live out her life in. She is not doing so well in our environment – we didn’t realized her age when we took her in and knowing seniors have a had time here we need to really try to find her a foster and forever home quickly. Bunny is losing weight from the stresses of not having a home to call her own. We are taking great care of her but need your help to network her to friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors.

nocatsBunny would LOVE to have a home to herself, but we do think she would do okay with another dog as long as that dog is submissive. Bunny is a bit of a diva and takes charge of her environment. It’s as if she has earned her top spot in life because of her age. She loves to snuggle and nudge to get pets. She is 100% housebroken and can hold her bladder up to 12 hours!!!

Senior dogs are quite easy to take care of, they sleep, eat, sleep, go outside, sleep, sleep, sleep. Bunny enjoys walks and can go for about 30 minutes twice a day. She would do best in a home or apartment that does not have more than 1 flight of steps.

FOSTER REPORT from former foster Mom:
I can attest to bunnys fabulousness as well as her divaness. I had her for over a week. she definitely needs to be the alpha. She is just full of love and affection. she knows sit, paw, stay, alll the basics. She takes her treats so gentle. she walked nice with my dog. ( i didnt have to do the ” dance of the two leashes”) she is 100% housebroken. i even left her for as long as 12 hours and it was fine. She just wants a nice, soft spot to sleep on. She is a little creaky in the back legs. She would put her front half on the bed and i would pull her the rest of the way in. Her tail would ” thunk, thunk, thunk” on the mattress. It just unfortunately got to where as she became more attached to me, the less she wanted nigel around.. If you can make her the only child or have a submissive first dog, she’s your girl!
