Ukraine Fundraiser

Click here for the full details and donation links to support this important cause.

Dr. Liz Sobol of Gateway Animal Clinic has reached out to us to assist with the effort overseas to support a coalition of veterinarians and animal rescue advocates who are offering their services in support of the injured and displaced domesticated animals of Ukraine. Due to supply chain issues and the high cost for international shipping, this coalition of veterinarians and animal advocates have partnered with Harper Asprey Wildlife Refuge, located in the United Kingdom, to receive donated supplies from an Amazon Wish List as well as have them order controlled substances such as veterinary medications from their local distributors.

Needed supplies include but are not limited to the following items: Vet Wrap, Gauze, Examination, Gloves, Baxter I/V Fluids, Puppy Pads, Towels, Blankets, Syringes, I/V Extension Tubes, sterile wound dressing packs containing silver, Manuka Honey, Oralade premix bottles, Leucillin, Malaseb Shampoo, Allevyn Dressings (or similar), Vetericyn Wound Care (or similar), Rehydration (Lectade or similar), Antibiotic eye drops/ointments, Critical Care Nutrition Sachets, Puppy/Kitten Milk, I/V Antibiotics, I/V Vitamins, General Vitamins and Disinfectants.

To make a direct donation through the Amazon Wish List click here

Alternatively, Secondhand Mutts has agreed to be a pass through for monetary donations made on behalf of this effort. As these donations come in, they will be transferred to Harper Asprey Wildlife Refuge up to the date Jenny and the supplies leave the United Kingdom. All of the money raised will fund the purchase of veterinarian-specific supplies sourced directly from a UK distributor. You may choose one of the pre-set donation amounts or choose your own amount as shown on the right.

Thank you for your support.

Special thanks to our participating chefs and restaurateurs
and event sponsors making this all possible….

Our Pancake Barkfeast started over a decade ago to honor a senior Doberman Pinscher we took him after he was thrown from a truck and taken to a shelter in Youngstown, Ohio. Under our care we were able to take care of the many bumps and bruises from being dumped and discovered shortly thereafter he was heartworm positive. We named him “Scramble” as we were scrambling for funds and came up with the idea of hosting a breakfast to raise the money for his care. Within a few weeks we were able to move him into a foster home which ultimately became his forever home. Scramble and lived his best life with his new family feeling happy, healthy and loved until he passed away on July 5, 2010.

This experience with Scramble led us to start what has since become our biggest fundraiser of the year and we are grateful for the support from our adopters and the community of dog lovers who believed in us.

The Extra Mile fund which helps us cover expenses for dogs needing additional care due to medical and/or social issues and the funds raised from the tickets sold at the annual Barkfeast are directed to the dogs who are a part of The Extra Mile program.

Meet-Our-Mutts: Spring Equinox Festival

Saturday, May 4, 2018

Stop by The Mutt Hutt on Scranton Road and join in meeting our mutts as we welcome Spring and celebrate on Scranton Road. Our neighbors and kind hosts are The Everarbor Company who welcome The Mutt Hutt, Beviamo, The Root Cafe, Forest City Brewery, Civiization Cafe, Barrio, Run Wild CLE, Hatfields Good Grub, AMZART, Western Reserve Meadery, and the City of Cleveland.

Live Music! Beer Tastings! Food!
11 am to 9 pm

We will be hosting our adoptable dogs from 12-3 PM. This is a dog-friendly event (dogs on leash) but please be mindful that not all dogs do well in crowds or where there is loud music – please respect the dog and leave your dogs at home if they are not the personality types to handle this.

A year ago we introduced a pack of puppies all of whom were adopted a short time later. We have asked the owners of the pups to stop by for a reunion of sorts. We are looking forward to seeing how the pups have grown!

Eenie..Meenie…Miney….Mo..and Toe: who will show up to show us how you’ve grown?
