ADOPTED! December 19, 2013

India’s story is a little different then most dogs coming out of the City of Cleveland kennel. She wasn’t a homeless dog found wandering, she was brought in because her owner went into assisted living. Having spent time with her, it seems as if she was loved very much and well cared for. She is a happy little girl who thrives on human interaction. She truly seems to love every person she meets! If you walk near her she starts tap dancing, almost vibrating, to try to get your attention. This girl has so much personality and you can’t help but smile when she’s around. She enjoys playing with you, but she is good at entertaining herself as well. I’ve also never met a dog who loves butt scratches as much as she does. She is just a beautiful girl inside and out. Very smart, playful, easy going girl. India is the total package!

badgesforbulliesSadly, shortly after India arrived at the kennel she had fallen quite ill and was diagnosed with pneumonia. It was a very serious case and without the help of the Badges for Bullies canine group getting her the veterinary care she needed she may not be with us today. Dr. Bob at Gateway Animal Clinic and the entire staff at the clinic fell in love and made it possible for India to get healthy and find a rescue to take her in. We are so lucky to have her in our family. India is still recovering and has been staying in our quarantine sick room. She will be evaluated this coming weekend and start her socialization with our daycare pack. We look forward to seeing her happy smile playing with other dogs after her last month of being penned up.

We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We are closed on Sundays. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.
