Jack Tripper is daydreaming of his future home. He was picked up as a stray in Cleveland Ohio and taken to the Cleveland Animal Control and Care facility to wait for his owners to claim him and take him home. Jack had a microchip leading to the Northcoast SPCA (Brookpark Road) but they did not return the calls made to connect us with the person they placed him with in early January. His microchip was never registered further than the rescue facility he arrived at on Brookpark Road after he was brought to Ohio from Tennessee (where his rabies tag was tracked to).

Jack is an active beagle mix living with 4 small mixed breed dogs and one large hound dog in a foster home.

FOSTER HOME REPORT:

Jack is a typical young male beagle. Curious, happy-go-lucky, sweet, loving and energetic. He’ll make an excellent addition to any family.

Jack hasn’t met a dog he doesn’t like. He loves to play and when he meets new animals, he warmly greets them with a wagging tail and sparkle in his eye— ready to romp and play. He enjoys running around in a fenced yard, a must, chasing balls and playing with toys. Jack is an extremely fast runner and would make a good companion for an active, young family or someone who enjoys running or hiking in the outdoors. Of note, Jack is well behaved around young children but can be rambunctious, so very small children might be a challenge.

Jack loves to snuggle with and get pets from his human. He gets very excited when I arrive home and has a tendency to bark–loudly. We’re working on curbing the excited barking and jumping.  He’s been spending two days a week at The Mutt Hutt to burn off some of his young dog energy. I do crate him when I’m not home. He’s a bit of an escape artist and I have taken to bungee cording his crate because he somehow escapes. Though, he has never been destructive in the house when he does manage to escape from his crate, I still watch him closely when it comes to items around the home and chewing.

Jack knows basic commands of sit and down and he is house trained which is fantastic! It is apparent someone spent time training him on the basics. In true beagle fashion, he’s a nose to the ground hound, which is why a fence is a must. That holds true when it comes to food, as well. He’s very food driven and eats his food and treats very quickly and will try to counter surf. We’re working on that.

Again, Jack is a lovely little dog that will make a very wonderful furever friend.
