Johnny and Joonie’s owner passed away last November and they ended up in a shelter. Unknown at the time of surrender Joonie was pregnant and in early December she had six puppies (all placed now). Our assumption is Johnny was the father because he was not neutered at the time. Both dogs have been in a shelter but going home with one of the shelter staff on occassion. They are a bonded pair but we have seen progress since they have moved into our foster providers home that would indicate they are not as attached as the previous shelter may have thought. We would not recommend these dogs to families with children. If children visit the home managing the dogs appropriately to help the dogs feel secure would be our advise and getting additional help from a professional dog trainer for tips is also our recommendation. We would prefer to adopt to someone who understands the Chihuahua breed. The pair are currently living with a few other little dogs and are enjoying their freedom in a home. They are both house trained and crate trained.
FOSTER HOME REPORT:
They are both very nice dogs once you get past their barking. Johnny is a little spitfire. He does everything to the extreme, jumping, running, loving, and everything in between. He is a hoot. Joonie is much more mellow she is very loving as well they are both nicely house trained and sleep in the crate at night. They are both extreme lap pups. They have obviously been exposed to table food , we are working on not begging. They are not going to do meet and greets well. They need about 15 or 20 minutes to settle down if the people are sitting.
