Merlot is a 6 yr old Mix Beagle English Bulldog. She is spayed, housebroken, good with kids and could be good with cats dependent on the cat. She is trained and knows all of the basic commands plus some! Her owners are unable to contain her at their home and they live on a very busy road and determined finding her a new home where she has a fenced yard would be the best thing for Merlot. We evaluated her with other dogs and brought her into our program allowing her owners to continue to keep her until a match is found to place her permanently. Merlot currently eats BilJack food (1 cup twice a day) and she loves to have dog ice cream and almonds for treat time.
Merlot is 42# and full of energy. She has never met a person or dog that she didn’t like. She is extremely happy-go-lucky and her tail never stops wagging with happiness. She could never be a good poker player because her tail is a dead giveaway! She is a very good family dog and will welcome you home every day. She enjoys sitting on the couch watching movies and snuggling with her people. She would love to have a home with kids to play with an a fenced yard is a must. The fence must be 5′ or higher or she could jump it.

FOSTER HOME REPORT:

Merlot is an awesome Secondhand Mutt. She is a 6 year old mix of Beagle and English Bulldog. She is spayed, housebroken, and good with kids over 7. She is trained, knows all of the basic commands, and is very treat-motivated. She has a cute personality and even smiles with a beautiful overbite.

Merlot is 42# and full of energy at times but she also likes to chill out and relax.  She has never met a person that she didn’t like. She is extremely happy-go-lucky and her tail never stops wagging with happiness. She could never be a good poker player because her tail is a dead giveaway! She is a very good family dog and will welcome you home every day. She enjoys sitting on the couch watching movies and snuggling with her people.

Because she can be an escape artist on occasion, a fenced yard is a must. The fence must be 5′ or higher or she could jump it. She loves to chase squirrels, rabbits, etc. She does not work well with an electric fence. It’s also important to keep eyes on her when entering/exiting the house as this is when she may attempt to get out. She will “stay” if told to. If she does get out, she finds it entertaining to not come when called and to run around the neighborhood. She doesn’t run far away and she will come back when she’s tired.

Merlot gets along with other dogs so a canine playmate or two would be ideal.  She has lived with a cat but has also chased cats from the neighborhood so that is iffy.

She walks nicely on a leash unless she sees wildlife to chase. She’ll pull but stops pretty well when corrected. She usually doesn’t react to other dogs while out walking. She has a very loud hound bark when excited by something. This could be a problem with close neighbors but luckily she doesn’t usually overdo the barking. She’s very good in the car and just likes to see the sights.
Merlot is just a sweetheart. She’s a lot of fun, great company, and gorgeous. What more can you ask for?

A few more items to add from her most recent caretaker:

1. She walks nicely on a leash unless she sees wildlife to chase. She’ll pull but stops pretty well when corrected. She doesn’t react to other dogs at all.
2. She has a very loud hound bark when excited by something. This could be a problem with close neighbors. Luckily she doesn’t usually overdo the barking.
3. She’s very good in the car and just likes to see the sights.
4. It’s important to keep eyes on her when entering or exiting the house. If she’s in the mood, she will try to get out to run around and explore. It’s a beagle thing.
