We have committed to taking in a Cleveland Animal Control dog currently they  named “Sky” by the volunteers at the kennel. We have taken “Sky” in and renamed her “Monkee” – it was a fitting name and she seems to respond well to it.

Thanks to the tireless work of the volunteers at the Cleveland Animal Control, and the partnership with The Friends of the Cleveland Kennel dogs like Sky would not get a second chance to find a home through rescues like Secondhand Mutts and many others in the area. Sky most likely would have been euthanized if it weren’t for Friends of the Cleveland Kennel stepping up to take on her initial medical care and starting her treatments for her medical condition. Both Friends and Secondhand Mutts are nonprofits who rely on private donations to help assist with medical costs associated with dogs we take in.

Dr. Bob, a veterinarian at Gateway Animal Clinic, took great care of her and she is now in our hands. Monkee has been introduced to our pack and really loves other dogs. We have shown a few pictures of her skin condition as it is affecting her entire body. She has little scabs and flaking skin and most of her fur coat is missing.

She has the sweetest disposition. Monkee suffers from a non-contagious mange and we are treating her. Her veterinary bills in just one week were $325 and she will be continuing to receive the expensive treatment, she will need to get spayed when she is feeling better, and we are in the process of raising the money to cover her medical expenses. Monkee will need weekly medicated baths to help with her condition healing.

Monkee loves to play with her toys! She is friendly and loves to be with people. Monkee has spunk despite her medical condition. She takes treats gently and wants to share her toys. Monkee deserves a home to get well in so she can play all day! She appears to have mange and scabs all over her little body. Monkee is a puppy with a big heart willing to trust and love. She will be spayed once she is feeling better and Dr. Bob gives us the A-OK!
