Possum

PossumSHM_body_MARTHAADOPTED! JUNE 7, 2014

Possum is a 4-5 year old Spaniel mix. She is 20 pounds and fully grown at that weight. She was surrendered by her owner to a rural Ohio shelter – reason unknown but it could be an assumption to think it had to do with the hair loss on her hind quarters. Possum is a well mannered gal, she is house trained and wonderfully behaved according to her foster mom. She loves other dogs and plays nice. Dr. Liz did a full health exam and reported Possum’s skin irritation was most likely caused by flea bits. Now that the fleas are gone, the area has calmed down allot and she felt no medication was needed. . Possum is up to date on shots, she is spayed and ready for her new home.

UPDATE: In just a few weeks Possum’s back already looks so much better. Her hair is growing back nicely.

Foster Care Report:

Already I cannot say enough about Possum. The car ride home was a breeze, she either looked out the window or curled up to rest. When we arrived home, she met you pack very easily, didn’t run away, but was submissive to their sniffing. She sniffed around the yard for a bit, everyone ignoring each other. I let them all in and she followed me around getting to know the house. She ate a little, drank some water took her Trifexis wrapped in cheese like a champ. We then went back outside and she peed! She is already house trained. The night was calm, she waits to be asked to jump up on furniture, she spent most of the night in my lap. She waits to be told to go out the door and back in, although she wasn’t sure what sit or stay was. Overnight she joined the pack and me for sleep time, I’m gonna have to get a king-size next time, lol. She slept thru the night curled up extra to me. At 6 we woke for a potty break and she went right out and peed and pooped. She is a beautiful, well tempered little girl. Beautiful face, soulful eyes and a dream to have. Once she gets on some news for her back end area, she’ll be perfect!!
