Cleveland, OHADOPTED! September 12, 2016
Ruggles is a 9 year old Poodle/Cocker Spaniel Mix. He was picked up as a stray in the City of Cleveland and taken to the city shelter. His coat was a matted mess and the heat was extreme so there was a plea to get him out and get him the help he needed. Ruggles was groomed on donation by the staff at The Mutt Hutt Grooming Salon and wow what a difference! Ruggles visited the vet and he is scheduled to have his teeth cleaned next week. He was already neutered when he arrived indicating he was at one time someone’s dog. We never judge and certainly won’t hold his past against him as we find him a new, forever home to live out his life in.
Ruggles recently moved to a foster home so we can learn more about his in-home behaviors and manners. We will provide a full report soon.
FOSTER HOME REPORT:
Ruggles is a sweet laid-back guy. Lots of positives-he gets along with other dogs and likes to play (not sure about cats); he’s house trained; he sleeps through the night; he’s a lap dog/cuddler; he’s good in the car; he’s food motivated. Negatives-he hates the crate and doesn’t like to be alone. He also likes to troll waste baskets (all fixable issues with time and consistency). I’ve been confining him in the kitchen when I leave and he seems much happier about that. He’s a “treat grabber” so you have to be a little careful giving them to him. Ruggles would do great having a dog companion or human companion to keep him company. All-in-all, a great dog!
We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.
