ADOPTED! August 1, 2016
Once again we must Respect the dog and go The Extra Mile. This time it’s for two Labradoodles: Yum Yum and Pluto
Yum Yum and Pluto arrived at our door step clearly neglected. Their “owner” claimed the original owner dumped the dogs on them two months ago and never came back to get them. While we will never know the real story behind our rescue dogs these two certainly have a story in their fur coat condition. We are assuming the dogs were neglected and perhaps the “owner” was too embarrassed to explain the condition of the dogs given their coats were severely matted and unhealthy. Both dogs needed to have their entire coats shaved down which was a painful process for each dog. The dogs are estimated to be between 2-3 years old. They are Labradoodles, one male and one female. Yum Yum is a blonde female and Pluto is a brown male.
The dogs were given top priority attention by the staff at The Mutt Hutt Grooming Salon the day after they arrived. It took just over five hours for Jaimie to groom both dogs and the process was not easy for anyone. The dogs required multiple baths, shave downs and breaks throughout the process. Both dogs handled themselves well and were remarkably relieved after the experience. Thanks to our generous supporters we were able to pass along a nice tip for Jaimie’s hard work she donated to our rescue.
Yum Yum and Pluto are healthy dogs other than an inner ear infection in one and both needing to be spayed and neutered. They were seen by Gateway Animal Clinic and Dr. Brian altered the two dogs on Friday, July 22. They are microchipped and up to date on shots. The dogs are now living in a foster home and we are awaiting a full foster report soon to report back their overall behavior, any concerns and general personalities. This is a bonded pair and we prefer to keep them together.
We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We are closed on Sundays. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.
Adoption Fee $400/pair
