Goose

GooseSHMGoose is a two and a half year old Great Dane. He was surrendered to us because he was not getting along with the other family dog, but he has shown no signs of disliking any dogs at our facility. However, he did go to a one week foster home and he did show signs of territorial behavior and we are recommended he does not live in a home with other dogs due to the guarding he is showing. His original owners got him from a family who lost their home so this poor guy has had two homes in a short period of time. Goose is HUGE….we haven’t had him weighed yet but we suspect he is close to 2oo pounds. He is a gorgeous black and white male, neutered, loves cats and kids. According to his former owners he loves attention, biscuits, belly rubs and playing fetch. He knows some basic commands including sit, down, outside and high five. He love to be on the furniture…probably not the best habit for a dog this size. He is housebroken but has lived in a home with a stay at home mom and had outside breaks every four hours. He is good with cats and lived in a home with 3 children.

Goose  eats about 6-8 cups per day so this is a dog you will need to budget to own and know the responsibilities of taking on an extra large breed dog. Please read up on the breed before applying to adopt him. Goose is up to date on shots, neutered and heartworm tested.

fosterhomeIf you are interested in fostering Goose please fill out our foster application. If you have already completed the foster application please make a request to foster Haven by contacting our volunteer foster coordinators at fosterdogs@secondhandmutts.org

Secondhand Mutts is not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We are closed on Sundays. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.
