Haven is a chocolate Labrador Retriever mix picked up as a stray in Cleveland and taken to the city kennel where she waited for her owners to claim her, but nobody did. She ended up on the “urgent” list scheduled for euthanasia unless a rescue stepped up to save her. So, we saved her. Haven arrived and was sick with a cold so she has not yet been socialized with our pack. She does have a good friend, named Sesame, who was pulled the same day from the kennel and the girls are best friends.
Haven is a very lively gal, she LOVES to play, has tons of puppy-ish energy and loves her toys. She has responded nicely to crate training and with some basic obedience she will be an awesome dog. She is a no-hassle, all fun kind of dog great for any family looking to adopt a dog who is looking to return the favor with love.
Haven is being spayed on May 22 and then she will get to meet and play with the pack a few days after her recovery period. We are seeking a foster home for her to recuperate in.
We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We are closed on Sundays. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.
