Cadence, a two-year old Doberman Pinscher, arrived this morning from an owner who was neglecting her. A neighbor called authorities and after investigating the home the dogs owner was told they would have to pay a fine for neglect and they opted to turn her into a rescue. Thankfully they contact us after finding out we have a special place in our heart for the breed and she was accepted into the program. Cadence is on her way to Gateway Animal Clinic for a health assessment, she has never received shots in her two years of life, and we are going to put her on a weigh-gain diet and keep her off the daycare floor until she shows weight gain. We are seeking a foster home for her to gain weight in. From what her owners tell us she has no training and is “super high energy” and nobody can keep up with her. We have not seen the energy they have referred to but today is just her first day here. We will update her adoption listing and keep everyone in the loop about her progress.
Bags of Bil-Jac frozen dog food and boiled potatoes are welcomed donations for us to supplement her diet. Donation drop offs can be made at our facility weekdays 7 am to 7 pm and weekends 9 am to 6 pm.
