ADOPTED! September 6, 2014
Churchill is a mutt of a mix, 2 years old, good with kids and dogs. He was a stray in West Virginia and has been at that shelter for 5 months before we committed to taking him. Dozens of dogs have come and gone since his arrival and we are confident that won’t be the case with him now that he’s a Secondhand Mutts. This guy is about 30 pounds with beautiful markings. He knows some basic commands and is picking up on them quickly after moving to a foster home. He is 90% house trained.
Foster Home Report
Churchill is doing well- he is a very happy boy! He learning to “come” and “sit” understands “no”. He seems mostly housebroken but we have had a couple mis-queues. He is very alert and let’s us know whenever anyone is outside the house and we are working on greeting people that come to visit- he gets *very* excited. We have also been working on walking on a leash – he is doing well with a training collar. He is a casual eater and does not seem to be very treat driven and greeted our cat very politely but has since taken to chasing him. Churchill would do great with another dog – he loves to play but also is able to chill. His favorite toy right now is a stuffed hedgehog. He does great with our 8 and 11 year old as well.
We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.
