Foster homes needed for two special dogs in our program. Please spread the word and help Bunny and India.

fosterhomeBunnySHM_bodyBunny is a senior dog who would like a quiet home to live out her life in. She is not doing so well in our environment – we didn’t realized her age when we took her in and knowing seniors have a had time here we need to really try to find her a foster and forever home quickly. Bunny is losing weight from the stresses of not having a home to call her own. We are taking great care of her but need your help to network her to friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors.

Bunny would LOVE to have a home to herself, but we do think she would do okay with another dog as long as that dog is submissive. Bunny is a bit of a diva and takes charge of her environment. It’s as if she has earned her top spot in life because of her age. She loves to snuggle and nudge to get pets. She is 100% housebroken and can hold her bladder up to 12 hours!!!

Senior dogs are quite easy to take care of, they sleep, eat, sleep, go outside, sleep, sleep, sleep. Bunny enjoys walks and can go for about 30 minutes twice a day. She would do best in a home or apartment that does not have more than 1 flight of steps.

If you can help please apply to foster or adopt on our website. All expenses are paid for by Secondhand Mutts when you foster for us.  For additional information about our foster program email us at fosterdogs@secondhandmutts.org

fosterhomeIndia is one of our newest arrivals. India’s story is a little different then most dogs coming out of the City of Cleveland kennel. She wasn’t a homeless dog found wandering, she was brought in because her owner went into assisted living. Having spent time with her, it seems as if she was loved very much and well cared for. She is a happy little girl who thrives on human interaction. She truly seems to love every person she meets! If you walk near her she starts tap dancing, almost vibrating, to try to get your attention. This girl has so much personality and you can’t help but smile when she’s around. She enjoys playing with you, but she is good at entertaining herself as well. I’ve also never met a dog who loves butt scratches as much as she does. She is just a beautiful girl inside and out. Very smart, playful, easy going girl. India is the total package!

Sadly, shortly after India arrived at the kennel she had fallen quite ill and was diagnosed with pneumonia. It was a very serious case and without the help of the Badges for Bullies canine group getting her the veterinary care she needed she may not be with us today. Dr. Bob at Gateway Animal Clinic and the entire staff at the clinic fell in love and made it possible for India to get healthy and find a rescue to take her in. We are so lucky to have her in our family. India is still recovering and has been staying in our quarantine sick room. She will be evaluated this coming weekend and start her socialization with our daycare pack. We look forward to seeing her happy smile playing with other dogs after her last month of being penned up.

Given her last month she has been ill and penned up and has energy to expel, India is going to require a slow socialization process meeting dogs. We are seeking volunteers to take her to The Mutt Hutt Dog Training Center for one hours sessions daily until we can secure a foster home for her. She is starting her lessons this week.

We are seeking a foster home for India as well to remove her from our quarantine area and get her into a more relaxed, home atmosphere. We are going to be very selective on homes that have another dog. We prefer to place her temporarily in a dog-free home until we know she is fully ready to hang out and play with other dogs. If you can help please apply to foster or adopt on our website. All expenses are paid for by Secondhand Mutts when you foster for us.  For additional information about our foster program email us at fosterdogs@secondhandmutts.org
