Jackpot

 ADOPTED! July 23, 2014JackpotSHM_running_small

jackpotSHMJackpot is a ten year old boy who came in through Humane Investigations at the Cleveland Animal Protective League several months ago. He was left alone in a house after his owner was taken to the hospital. A caseworker for his owner got in touch with us out of concern for the dog. There were some medical concerns centered around some lumps on his body. Months later custody has been granted, Jackpot received the medical attention he needed and he is available to find a home. Because he spent the last few months kenneled and was unable to be adopted out until the court case was over he has been stressed out in the environment. We are a rescue partner to the APL and take in stressed out dogs who may do better in our cage free atomsophere so we were happy to help this old fellow.

Even at ten, this guy has a TON of energy! He is a very balanced dog and would love to live out his golden years with loads of love and attention. We will know more about him once he moves to foster care and update our website. He is completely up to date on all vaccinations and boosters, and has completed all of his surgery-related medications. The only notable medical thing at this juncture is the surgery site on his left leg. The tumor that was removed from that area was the size of a plum when he arrived, and increased in size between then and the time the APL gained custody of him. It was such an awful area to get to heal properly once it was removed! Poor guy was so uncomfortable. It looks fantastic now, though, and has granulated in nicely. It’s still a bit red, but doesn’t need any further medication or treatments, just time to heal up completely.

We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.
