Cody

ADOPTED! June 5, 2014

CodySHM_paws

Cody was adopted in late April to a family with a toy puppy. They had the two dogs for just a few weeks when they determined their puppy was just too much for Cody so they returned him.

Cody is from the Columbus, Ohio area. He was found by police at a house when a deceased body was recovered, presumably Cody’s owner was the one who passed away from a drug overdose. He was taken to the local animal control facility and then we took him in from there. Beth, one of our dedicated volunteers, happened to be in Columbus and the timing worked out perfectly for Cody to hitch a ride north to our facility. Cody is slowly meeting dogs and doing well. He’s an easy going Rottweiler/Border Collie mix with a half tail and some pep in his step. He is about 7 years old. He is around 40 pounds and would do well in any home. He is not high energy like most Border Collie’s.

Cody is up to date on shots, he is neutered, microchipped and ready to find a forever home to settle into. Is that home yours?

FOSTER HOME REPORT (provided April 2014):

CodySHM_daydreamingHe is calm and doesn’t spook with men, women or kids. He seems really well-adjusted and has fit right in. No signs of anxiety other than some panting in the car. He has paced around to check out his surroundings, but no whimpering or signs of distress. I think he ate a lot of table scraps. He sat in front of me while I ate and barked. Like he knew it was dinner time. He will be happy as a single dog, or with a companion. He isn’t much into chasing or wrestling, but he does like to sniff and wag his tale. He really likes to do his own thing in the yard; sniff and wander around. He has no “ups” so there is no worry of him hopping any type of fence. He really likes to play fetch and just toss the tennis ball around himself. It is adorable. Could care less about the cats. He looked, and walked away. He has wandered into the basement where the cats live, and seems interested so he may do best with a dog savvy cat or a no cat home.  He is house trained and will go to the door to go outside. He picked up on that quickly. He has marked in a few spots, but those spots have been marked so may times by endless dogs, that it is only natural. Once he claimed his territory, he stopped. He is not destructive with furniture, cords, or clothing. He was in my room for 9 hours while I slept and he didn’t get into anything. He also didn’t go potty. He laid on the twin mattress bed I have on the floor for the dogs and slept. Right now he is on my bed with me, Maizey and Jack, resting from playing outside.
