Fluffy

ADOPTED!

FluffySHM

Fluffy is a rescue transfer from one of our rescue partners the Cleveland Animal Protective League. It is really rewarding to work with other rescues to do what is in the best interest of the dogs who are in our care. In this case little Fluffy was not doing so well in the traditional caged environment and our motto to respect the dog was clearly a priority. Fluffy was brought to the APL in December 2013 with eleven other small breed dogs. They were all very neglected and had a multitude of health problems. Fluffy was one of the younger dogs, so her issues were not as severe as the older ones. She has some mild lenticular scelerosis, a grade 2 heart murmur, and the APL surgically repaired her left patella. She was shy, by behaved very well through all of her treatments.

Fluffy was adopted out a short while later, and was just returned the first week of May. The adopter was heart broken. She loved the dog, and said that the dog was very bonded to her. However, the dog was absolutely terrified of the children in the home, and she didn’t feel it was fair for her to be constantly afraid. The adopter was a home care nurse, and said that Fluffy loved to go visit one older gentleman that she took care of.

Fluffy arrived at our facility and immediately showed us she absolutely loves other dogs. We moved her to a foster home where she’d have quite a few other dogs to play with and our goal is to find her a home where she can be one of maybe 2 or 3 dogs in the house. She seems to really thrive around other dogs. Because of her reported anxiety around children we are not going to upset her by placing her in a home with young children. Children over 10 with good dog etiquette and manners will certainly be considered.

We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We are closed on Sundays. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.

Adoption Fee: $200
