Kimbo

KimboSHMADOPTED! September 2, 2015

Kimbo is a 3-4 year old female. Our best guess is she is mixed with Jack Russell Terrier and maybe Chihuahua. She is 12 pounds. She was found running stray in the Shaker Heights community, reported to local authorities, Facebook posts circulated, posters were made in an effort to find her owner and the Cuyahoga County Kennel was notified of her being found. The Good Samaritan, who is also one of our foster parents, picked her up and networked her to find her owners but had no luck. Kimbo was given a name, a bath, visited Dr. Liz at Gateway Animal Clinic and is now seeking a forever home. She is up to date on shots and will be spayed prior to her adoption.

FOSTER HOME REPORT

Kimbo is the cutest, sweetest little nugget. She adapted almost immediately to her new environment and bonded quickly with my husband and I. She’s a total lap dog who loves to snuggle. She’s great on the leash and walks along right beside you without pulling. She does chase birds and squirrels, so should never be off-lead outside of an enclosed space.

She has us laughing and smiling all the time. Her tail wags up and down, it’s the funniest, most adorable thing ever. And (while we don’t encourage it) she often will stand like a meerkat to get a closer look at what we’re preparing on the counter.

She is house trained and also seemed to be crate trained; she went into a crate easily right away. I take her to work with me and she hangs out in her crate without whining. When I need to leave the house, she crates easily, but then has a tiny bit of separation anxiety. When I am getting into my car I hear her start whining through the window, but when I’ve been able to stay and observe, her whining then subsides after a few minutes. When I return home she’s always sleeping in her crate until she hears the door open.

I am sure Kimbo will adapt quickly to any loving home. She will certainly bring immense joy to her adoptive family.

We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We are closed on Sundays. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.
