Lady and Nico arrived to us from an overpopulated Tuscarwaus County Dog Shelter. Their owners surrendered the pair and a senior Doberman Pinscher female to the shelter saying they could no longer care for the dogs. They stayed at the shelter for a few days and were networked to us and one of our volunteers made the drive (through a snow storm) to get them and bring them back to us. We have been told Lady is Nico’s mother and the resemblense is clear. The shelter manager reported the owner had let them know the Sire was a Australian Shepherd. It is very clear that Lady has recently had a litter so we suspect given her age this could have been a second liter since giving birth to Nico who is 6 months younger. However, in rescue you never really know a dogs tale.
Lady is a submissive friendly gal. She is working on her confidence but still shy’s away from people and tends to submissive pee when asked to do something in the house where she is being fostered. She is staying with a few other dogs in the home and she is playful and loves looking out the window and romping in the yard. Lady is up to date on shots and she will be spayed just after the new year. We would love to find her and Nico a home together but we are confident both dogs could easily be separated and find two homes if that option presented itself.
