Lawdy Dawty

ADOPTED! July 23, 2015

LawdySHM_faceLawdy Dawty is a 3 year old, blue/rust, Doberman Pinscher female. She was confiscated from her owner by the City of Cleveland courts and taken to the City of Cleveland Animal Control. Her former owner, a convicted dog fighter, owned her and she was his personal dog. There is no indication she was any part of the criminal activity and we assume she was a protective deterrent at the home the owner lived in and kept his criminal activities. Despite what life she must have been living her personality tells another story: one of trust, love, companionship and loyalty. Lawdy was held until she could be legally released to rescue and we were contacted to take her in. She was sick with kennel cough from her stay at the city facility and moved to a foster home for evaluation and recovery period. She is good with cats, kids, dogs and pigs (yes, pigs). She is a very laid back girl, loves to follow you and stay attached like velcro. She does not go on the furniture unless invited. She does need some work with basic commands (sit/stay) but has her “heel” command down like a champion. She will walk right next to her human and keep whatever pace going she needs to.

Lawdy is up to date on shots, she was not spayed and will be spayed prior to placement.

Lawdy Dawty is one of many Dobermans we take in and network for placement with adopters who have been patiently waiting to adopt this breed from our rescue. If you are interested in specifically adopting a Doberman please fill out our adoption application online and indicate “Doberman” in the dogs name box. We do contact our approved adopters when Dobermans come in and rarely do they make it up on our site for public adoption.

We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.
