ADOPTED! November 20, 2013
Lilli was adopted earlier this year but due to a family illness she had to come back to find a new home. Lilli just turned four years old; she was originally adopted from a shelter when she was a puppy and then surrendered to us this past spring by her original owners. Due to some family issues, she was given up to no fault of her own. She is up to date on shots and spayed. She has spent most of her life outside, but she likes to come inside. We are looking for a home that will make her an inside dog and give her the life she deserves. She is a bit fearful of men but with the right home we know she can gain the trust she needs.
Our best guess on her breed is Labrador Retriever mixed with Newfoundland mixed with Cocker Spaniel if you can believe it! Her fur will grow long, but recently it was shaved to make it shorter. When it’s cut short, she looks a lot like a Lab, when long she looks more like a Cocker Spaniel or Flat Coated Retriever. She’s a very loving dog. She likes to run and play, and she likes to play fetch. She has been around kids the age of 2 and 4 and loves them dearly.
FOSTER CARE REPORT:
She is probably the sweetest dog I have ever met. Her demeanor is just wonderful. We have been taking a lot of walks and she is really good on a leash. It took her a day or so to realize she could pee somewhere besides the back yard – at first she just walked on the sidewalk and would do her duty in the backyard after her walk :0 She is well behaved and pretty quiet – barked at some squirrels but otherwise only when she needs to go out. We have not crated or blocked her off at all and she has been fine by herself. She likes to carry things in her mouth so we have a lot of socks and shoes laying around the house now – too funny. She is very smart and funny and loves to play around. She would make a great addition to any family – easy to love and darn cute!
We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We are closed on Sundays. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.
