Luke

ADOPTED! June 5, 2015

LukeSHM_body

Luke is a pure bred Beagle male who was surrendered to us by an animal clinic. He is up to date on shots and will be neutered prior to his adoption. Luke is a playful Beagle and anyone who knows and understands this breed will clearly fall in love with him. Hounds are known for using their nose and are extremely smart. Luke would thrive in an active home where he can play and have appropriate leadership and things to do. He is very obedient and gets along well with dogs and children. Luke is 8 months old.

FOSTER HOME REPORT:

Having had no experience with beagles, I can say I already adore the breed. Luke is an active and playful pup. He is in the biting and exploring phase so he loves chewing ( Hands too) but innocently. He seems to be housebroken and biting anything that looks playful seems to be his only “thing to wean off”. He doesn’t chew the Sofa or Chair. Once he tried the table but stopped instantly when told.

He is a happy eater and wants to try everything ( especially adult food). He is also a quick learner and has already picked up a peaceful sitting position when enticed with treats.

He is definitely an outdoor dog. Loves walks and runs and chasing everything that moves. His nose takes him everywhere. But he is still a pup and is will figuring out the world and its smells. He is not a lapdog unless you consider pulling him into your lap with a treat as an incentive.

He would love an active enthusiastic house. He loves playing with Bart ( our other foster) and keeps sniffing him up. He also tends to playfully bite him which Bart dislikes.

Luke likes his crate and doesn’t find it a negative space. He does not bark inside the house. He whimpers at being left alone or if Bart is taken out instead of him or if we tie him up. But otherwise he is not a cry baby. He barks and howls at other dogs but all playfully.

All in all, Luke will make his forever home so happy. Can’t wait to see what a Handsome dog he grows up to be.

We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.
