Maxx is looking for some new digs to call his own! Perhaps a home with another dog or kids or he’d be fine flying solo. He’s an easy going smaller sized dog perfect for a home or apartment building life style. Maxx has lots of socialization experience, he loves other dogs and enjoys life to the fullest. Someone is going to end up a very lucky person!
FOSTER HOME REPORT:
FOSTER HOME #1: Maxx has clearly been well-cared for, loved and given positive reinforcement in his previous home. An owner-surrender due to unforeseen family circumstances, he is house trained, knows many commands, is behaved in the home, rides well in the car and is dog social. He is a happy-go-lucky, young, three-year- old dog that loves to run, play with his toys and chase squirrels in the fenced backyard. After a brief getting-to-know- us period, Maxx also likes to cuddle with his humans on the couch and sleep in the bed at night. He does not need to be crated when left alone; he hasn’t shown any destructive tendencies. Maxx is high energy though, and has a tendency to bark quite a bit when he sees a squirrel or knock at the door. He loves to watch those squirrels all day long! A family that is also active might suite him best; to help burn off his energy. Overall, he’s a great, little guy!
FOSTER HOME #2 (first home had a vacation planned so we moved Maxx to a new foster home):Fostering Maxx has been such a surprise blessing! Upon first pick up, he was a fireball who just wanted to run a million miles and hour and play fetch right off the bat. No shyness or nervousness, he had so much love for everyone he met and anyone we walked by! But now after a bit more time, Maxx is so much more than I thought.
All he wants in the world is to cuddle up on some blankets on the couch or in his bed. He loves snuggling right up to your leg or another dog, but also knows when I say go to your bed, he quickly jumps off and readjusts. He has spent 80% of his daytime with us sleeping and looking out the window. He loves running to you when you get home, jumping up in excitement and so happy to greet you! You’ll notice his energy most here.
But within minutes he’s back to his bed or couch, happy to sleep the day away. He loves to tug of war with you or other dogs, and then runs after the toys you throw. Be warned, he will do anything in his power to get that fluff or squeaker out so prepare your toys and look for the indestructible ones… although defluffing is so fun! Maxx clearly came from a well-trained home. He knows many commands and follows your voice incredibly well. He does bark occasionally like any other dog, BUT not nearly as much as I expected coming from a Jack Russel. And as soon as you say, “Maxx, no bark,” he follows and stops, very impressively. From my experience, his favorite things to bark at are car doors shutting and squirrels. He has no issues going into his crate, although he has not had a destructive situation where I’ve felt like I must crate him. Each night, he sleeps downstairs with my other dog, open to wander, and I have not had a single issue. He spends most of his hours curled up on the dog bed or snuggled up against the couch pillows. He is 100% potty trained and goes right to the door when he needs to go out if not prompted first. At one point he even gave the door a little paw, as to say, “Ehhem!” Right away he went to the bathroom and trotted back inside. Maxx also must have come from an environment where he was allowed on couches/beds or anywhere else he can snuggle up. He quickly found his way on to mine and it hasn’t bothered us a bit!
Maxx also is not really people food sensitive. He has never sat by the table or counter and begged, he lets us eat in peace, big plus!Since I live in a smaller home, I was worried about his energy level, but truly he is even more relaxed than my doxin! He loves a good walk in the morning, some random toy throwing a couple hours later, and then a small walk before bed. Such a surprise and therefore he’d be perfect for a small apartment or large home. He has had no issues with any dogs or people we’ve met.
Maxx has been the sweetest, happiest, most fun addition to our home and I’m so happy to have had the time to get to enjoy him. He cute little face and kisses will brighten each day. He deserves a home full of love, he has SO much to give!
