River is a young poodle mix. He was picked up as a stray in the City of Cleveland and taken to the animal control facility to be reunited with his owners. Days passed and nobody showed up and due to his condition he was released to rescue. River had obviously been neglected for some time. His coat was thick with knots, he was covered in fleas but this did not affect his spirit. Thanks to your support The Extra Mile funds assisted with River receiving the Spa Day treatment he needed and deserved. What a makeover!
He is a spunky young guy with a new do and looking forward to days ahead.
River is now up to date on shots, microchipped and scheduled for his neuter appointment. He has moved into a foster provider home.

Sponsorship of dogs in need of extreme make overs. Often times a neglected pet left outdoors or not cared for by it’s owner or taken in off the street arrives with severe matting which is extremely uncomfortable to the dog and it’s skin. We work with reputable and professional groomers and veterinary clinics to assist with giving the dog their unhealthy outside appearance a necessary clean up. We have partnered with The Mutt Hutt and their wonderful salon team to provide discounted or complimentary services depending on the severity of the case.

We are a volunteer run operation and we ask for your patience while processing and responding to applications. Please notify your references when you list them on our application and give your listed veterinarian authorization to release your current or previous animals records to our volunteers. If you have never owned a pet before please research the breed you are interested in adopting to understand the needs of the breed and list the name of the veterinarian you plan to use if you do adopt.
