Ruthie

ADOPTED! September 22, 2014

RuthieSHM Ruthie is a 5 month old English Setter/Pointer/Labrador Mix — or simply put….a MUTT! She is all puppy, all fun, and looking for a well rounded family to complete their lives. Ruthie is young and will require continued socialization, crate training (if you believe in that), obedience and in return you will get a great, well balanced dog. Ruthie is currently in a foster home with 2 other dogs and guest dogs who come over all the time to play. She enjoys going to the dog park, the dog beach and playing at daycare.

Puppies are not eligible for our foster-to-adopt program due to their high demand. If you are ready for a puppy and can make a lifelong commitment to a growing dog please apply!

Foster Home Report from Ruthie herself

Hey! I’m Ruthie, a full energy pup in the beginning stages of learning what’s what.  I like to spend my time hanging out with my foster mom and 2 dog foster siblings.  We play fetch, chew bones, snuggle and go on walks together.  I like car rides because I never know where I will wind up…a pet store, a new house or park or one of my favorite places The Mutt Hutt or puppy playtime where I have endless friends to play and learn from.

Here is my day in a nutshell:

I start my day off giving my foster mom lots of kisses and tail wags in bed then I go to my dog foster sister and brother and give them good morning licks.  After I go out for a quick pee break then it’s off to breakfast.  My mom believes in manners so I always have to sit before I eat which is still hard for me so I need a little butt push to the floor but after that reminder I got it!  I love food and am a member of the clean plate club!  During the week I hang out in my house while mom’s at work.  I’m good about going in and chilling out and there is no funny business in my house during the day.  When mom gets home the fun begins.  First tons of kisses and licks, then a quick bathroom break and let the fun begin!!  Running around the yard playing chase, playing fetch with toys I haven’t seen all day is always fun.  Inside the fun continues, whether is couch hangs, belly pets or follow the leader I’m always included and have  a blast.  Dinner time is one of my favorite times because my mom is such an amazing cook and the smell is so tempting it’s hard for me to keep my paws to myself.  I’ve snuck a few tastes here and there(I just couldn’t help myself)  but I’m learning the word “NO” and “off”.  After dinner is kind of a chill out time for us around the house.  Sometimes I get bored so I go in for some pets and then out the door to run and play with my brother and sister.  I go check out what’s happening and then back to my business of being a puppy for now.

We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.
