Willie

 ADOPTED! June 27, 2014

WillieSHMWillie was picked up stray in Richland County on 4-10-14. He won the volunteers over with his sweet disposition and non-stop smile on his face. He seems to have been well cared for, but nobody came to claim him and he was at the shelter for nearly 2 months waiting. If you adopt Willie it’s their loss and your gain because he would make a wonderful addition to anyone’s family! Willie is estimated to be 1-2 years old, he is a Shepherd/Hound mix. He is very playful and loves to roll over for belly rubs. He was neutered recently so we are slowly allowing him play time on the daycare floor with other dogs but we need to take it easy on him.

DOG WALK REPORT
Willie did a wonderful job. He walked beautifully, pretty much a loose leash the entire time. Very minimal correction only a few times he went ahead and with just a “no” and “here” he came back next to me. He kept his eyes on me often while walking He approached and met several strangers and was pet. I had a few kids approach him and pet as well and willie was calm and loving.  We had a few dogs rush us behind a gate and willie didn’t do anything. We also had two small dogs who were off leash in the park run up and willie was a good boy. No barking. No lunging. Only interest. The only time I heard a whine was for a squirrel.  Willie had tremendous therapy dog potential for sure.

Willie is up to date on shots, he is microchipped, neutered and ready to find a place to call home.

We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.
