Woodchuck

ADOPTED! March 19, 2016

Woodchuck is a 10 month old Doberman Pinscher. He was found at a home on the east side of Cleveland by a property manager in a garage, cold and alone, emaciated and hungry. When the owners were confronted they asked for help for the dog and then the property manager networked with some dog-loving friends. Those friends knew we may be able to help and we stepped right up and secured him a place to stay. Woodchuck is eternally grateful for the warm bed and meal he received the night he arrived, licking our faces with his kisses. He is headed to see Dr. Liz for a health assessment, and we are steadily setting a schedule for him to put some weight on in a monitored fashion.

WoodchuckSHM-garageDONATION REQUESTS FOR WOODCHUCK:
We are in need of BilJac frozen dog food as this is a diet that is helpful for weight gain. Donations can be made in person at 2603 Scranton Road weekdays from 7 am to 7 pm or weekends from 9 am to 5 pm. We could also use a small chest freezer if someone has one they aren’t using to donate to our cause.

Woodchuck is a happy-go-lucky male and he’s social with dogs and people. He seems to have come from a home where perhaps a male hit him but his reactions are varied with the male humans he’s met. There is lots of new stuff going on so he will decompress and move into a foster home soon and start learning commands and being crate trained.

fosterhomeIf you would like to foster Woodchuck and teach him manners, crate training and help us please email our volunteers at foster_coordinators@secondhandmutts.org.

We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We are closed on Sundays. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.

Adoption Fee $250
