Pearl Rose

ADOPTED! APRIL 10, 2014

PearlRoseSHM_face2

Pearl Rose is a 10 year old pure bred Chocolate Labrador Retriever. Her owner was elderly and moved to a nursing home and she ended up with a family friend. The friend didn’t know that her landlord wouldn’t let her keep her so she had no choice but so surrender her. Pearl is a wonderful dog, she knows basic commands, she is very laid back and easy going. She’s an ideal dog for someone who wants a walking companion or just companion in general. She would make anyone happy and she has a lot of love to give and life left in her.

Pearl saw the vets at Gateway Animal Clinic for a senior dog check up and blood work. She came back hypo-thyroid and will need to be on thyroid medicine. She is also taking pain meds for arthritis in her back legs. She would not do well in a home with too many stairs and will most likely need to be on medication for the rest of her life.

Thyroxine for one month is about $25. Rimadyl, if she actually needs it everyday, is about $50/month. Tramadol (pain) which we don’t think she will need to be on forever is about $25/month. So a total of about $100.00/month IF she needs all the meds all the time. Thyroxine she will definitely need forever with yearly Thyroid levels (blood test) which is about $60. The pain control medicine (rimadyl and tramadol) could be used as a as needed dose. These prices we are providing are a worst case scenario when planning for your budget when adopting Pearl.

We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility.
