Tilly

TillySHM2

Tilly is a four year old, female, small mutt. She’ got the markings of a border collie, the personality of a Jack Russell and she’s only 20 pounds or so. Her owner contacted us asking for help finding her a home due to sudden allergies in the home. Family members were contacted to see if anyone could take Tilly in and coincidentally the brother of the owner had just adopted two Secondhand Mutts and didn’t have room for a third dog. The timing was off by about two weeks. He suggested to his brother to contact us given the wonderful experience he had and we were glad to oblige. Tilly is up to date on shots, she is spayed and will be microchipped prior to her adoption.

FORMER OWNER REPORT:
I rescued Tilly from the Cuyahoga County Kennels as a puppy. She was found wandering the streets with no ID and needing a good home and meal. We were looking for a puppy that would be smaller than our last dog and give our kids a chance to raise their dog from a young age (Our other dogs have always been older rescues).  Our family immediately fell in love with her and she rode home curled up in my lap. We welcomed her into our home and she immediately bonded with our 3 children. She has a high energy level  (Like a Jack Russell) and loves to play with her ball, play tug a war or chew on her many bones. Tilly also watches TV and will respond to any dogs or cats on the screen.  She is definitely a lap dog and is very affectionate with people, if you sit down you will find Tilly on your lap. Tilly loves to go on walks in any weather and will sit outside as long as she is tethered or in a fenced in yard. Tilly is good with other dogs after the initial greeting but can be defensive while she is on the leash. Tilly does have a dog bed but prefers our beds, she will sleep in her bed most nights. She is not allowed on the furniture and is pretty good in cars as long as she can be near a window. Tilly is crate trained and stays in the crate a few hours a day to rest. Tilly has no experience with cats so we have no idea what her reaction would be if she met one.  She is not a barker but will let you know someone is at the door.

Tilly is currently staying with friends and shares the house with 2 other dogs and 3 kids (ages 7 to 15). Tilly is available to meet by scheduling an appointment in advance so we can contact her temporary foster parents and have her come in. If you’d like to meet he please email rescue@secondhandmutts.org

We are not a traditional shelter, we are a cage-free facility. All dogs are temperament tested and must get along with other dogs to stay here. Appointments must be made in advance to meet our Secondhand Mutts. Please call 216-664-9660 or email rescue@secondhandmutts.org to set up a time. We are closed on Sundays. We prefer to adopt to local families but will consider long distance adoptions.
